SOPHIA’S STYLE MAKEOVER

THE RESULTS OF SOPHIA'S STYLE MAKEOVER

Understanding your personal style is something I enjoying helping my clients with and Sophia’s style makeover was an absolutely blast. Sophia is a business woman who wanted a new look and wardrobe overhaul. She expressed her need for outfits that are transitional and versatile enough for different occasions.

Sophia detailed her desire for stand out pieces, minimal jewellery and fabulous heels so that’s exactly what I did for her. By creating some style ideas using Sophia’s style direction, I was also able to organise a professional makeover session. I reached out to a familiar creative team and we made style magic. This style story was then featured in BB&H Magazine.

OUTFIT 1: THE DAYTIME LOOK
THE DAYTIME LOOK OF SOPHIA'S STYLE MAKEOVER

Sophia loves to wear loose fitting trousers and tops so I started with that. While I wanted to honour her comforts, I also wanted to make her pieces more feminine. So I started with more fitted simple black pants and a loose gold top. As a self-confessed tomboy, Sophia doesn’t really like to showing a lot of flesh. So to keep her comfortable, I styled her look with a plaid print long sleeve jacket.

If you prefer an even more relaxed look try the on-trend boyfriend blazer. An option with ¾ sleeves (or roll them up) worn with tailored denim flares or a maxi skirt looks fabulous. For shoes, instead of heels, wedges or ballet pumps are simple but cute especially with a bow.

OUTFIT 2: THE PROFESSIONAL OFFICE LOOK
THE OFFICE LOOK OF SOPHIA'S STYLE MAKEOVER

A major part of Sophia’s style makeover is that she wanted at least one professional look to take inspiration from, being that she runs a business.

For a more feminine office look, start with the wardrobe staples and grow from there. With Sophia, I chose a black dress and earth-tone Jacket but other options include trousers, skirts and shirts. Accessories were then added to accentuate her figure like the skinny belt and tights. Because Sophia doesn’t always prefer heels, we selected wedges as a different style option.

Relax when it comes to picking accessories. Go with pieces that do the job for you like a shapewear dress or embellished collar shirt. If you’re not sure on colour, use black as your canvas with a splash of bold colour a la Sophia.

OUTFIT 3: THE PARTY LOOK
THE PARTY LOOK OF SOPHIA'S STYLE MAKEOVER

Sophia’s party look had to stand out but not overwhelm her so once again we stuck to the basics. Although Sophia simply wore a sequin dress, the piece was bold enough with the front motif to make a statement so it was not too much of an effort. We paired the pieces with Purple Heels for an abstract effect.

Take inspiration for the party season and get colour blocking, it’s easy, simply and stylish. You could wear a red shift dress with pink heels or a yellow top with purple trousers. But remember to break it up with neutral tones like a black belt or black tights for an effortless finish.
