AN INTERVIEW WITH ELEPHTHERIA

Today I feature an interview with Midlands based Print and Fashion designer Elephtheria. Elephtheria is the woman behind the label Ele Couture, the brand that gives you the freedom to design and make your own dresses, tops & skirts.  With a name that means ‘freedom’ in Greek, Elephtheria combines high-end fashion with her exclusive vintage inspired print designs.

I ask Elephtheria some interview questions for her ‘In The Starlight’ feature. The designer took a few minutes to let me in on her fashion faves, relaxation methods and brand direction.

1. Favourite ready-to-wear piece from your collection?

This sweetheart fitted jersey dress is my favourite as it is very versatile. It is sexy enough to be your little black dress, demure enough to be office wear but still has enough detail to be a party dress. You can accessorize it in many different ways with flat shoes for the office or sexy peep toes for a dinner date.

2. Favourite customer requested customized piece?

My favourite requests are customisation. As a customisation brand we love to accommodate people to give them that extra special feeling of having something exclusive. We’ve gone as far as making a dress with their own personal fabric, which is a service we are looking to offer soon as it would be perfect for bridesmaids and prom dresses.

3. Favourite celebrity style inspiration?

I get inspired by so many things and people but I would say Mischa Barton as I love the way she dresses. She has a great sense of what colours and styles look good on her.

4. Favorite wardrobe staple?

I’m a layers girl. I like to have simple clothing that I can mix and layer to make many different styles and outfits. I’d pick a long button up cardigan as it can be layered over a dress, leggings and trousers or even worn on its own for versatile looks.

5. Favourite way to wear an Elephtheria popular fitted jersey dress?

I love the bodycon strap fitted jersey dresses which you can wear on their own in the summer, over leggings in the spring with a light cardigan or under a thick woolly cardigan over thick knitted leggings or tights in the winter. It can also be used as an under dress for chiffon style tops.

6. Favourite thing to do when not Designing & Customizing?

I love the country side and nature. I love animals, especially horses and I also love spending time with my friends. With today’s busy lifestyle, I try my best to fit all these things in my life.

7. Favourite Elephtheria fashion news exclusive for 2012?

The most exciting news for this year is we are re-branding to Ele Couture with a new logo. With this re-branding we are going to release our new interchangeable collection. This new collection is designed to be worn in many different ways so I am very excited about that.
