STYLING SMART-CASUAL THE RIGHT WAY
Casually Styling the suit jacket might be simple but it’s not necessarily always easy. Getting the smart casual combination right is the difference between making the street your catwalk or your walk of shame. Ok, maybe those are extremes, but you seriously don’t want to look like the dad that only ever wears grey suits but thought he’d just mix in a pair of blue jeans one day to look “cool”.
Blazers and suit jackets are quite statement pieces to style as they can be bold, structured and powerful. So casually styling them with jeans or more relaxed clothing can be a nice everyday look. Unless you’re wearing a co-ord set, wearing plain bottoms with a printed jacket is a more elegant look. If your jacket is a plain solid colour, you can then do the reverse and opt for printed pants or dresses to style it with. The key is to stick with the same colour palette of the jacket as the focal point. This ties the whole look together as purposeful rather than an accidental mishmash.
THE FREEDOM OF CASUAL STYLING
With the more casual styling of the suit jacket, statement or playful accessories are welcome. This outfit shows how to contrast the print of accessories to the jacket for a statement look. A great alternative to this full Print Power Suit look, where black accessories were used to create a more professional finish.
Although the jeans add a casual touch to this outfit, its fit and cut still look chic and glamourous. The frayed hems of the grey jeans also work perfectly for the look. Overall, this outfit works well for a lunch date, relaxed meeting or a causal day at the office.
