TESTING THE TREND
When it comes to trends, there’s always a way to get involved without fully immersing yourself or your wallet for that matter or in other words dipping your toes in. If like me, you often have your eye on items that have an eye on your bank account, there are two ways to try them out to see if it works for you without fully committing, after all we’re not about the throw-away-after-one-season-life over here. The first way is dupes, which means finding a very similar and often cheaper alternative and the second, which is my favourite is DIYs.
If you’ve been breathing lately, you’ll know bumbags/ belt bags/ fannypacks are one of the latest hot trends. Although it’s definitely not a new look on the streets, it’s just now more cool to wear it even if you’re not a tourist or mum at Disneyland. I’m partial to a bit of luxury but I couldn’t justify paying the belt bag price tags for an accessory that I really wasn’t sure I’d even want wear in a few months from now and many highstreet versions just did not tickled my fancy. Yes I know that I usually advise that it is not compulsory to indulge in every trend but I really do love the belt bag look generally, just not most of the options available and like I also advised in my recent outfit post, there’s a way to make any trend work for you if you really want it to.
MAKING IT WORK!
Personally, I’m more of a DIY-er than a dupe-r, so I casually attached a monogram bag strap to my Louis Vuitton mini accessories pouch, did a double wrap around the waist and voila, my own belt bag that I’m not stuck with if I change my mind after 28 days. No extra cost, not extra fuss and a style to truly suit my own. Fashion doesn’t have to be fussy, it just has to be fabulous. Enjoy!
