They say not all superheroes wear capes and that’s true but when we do, we make sure that they are stylish, draping cloaks of beauty. With long flowy cape styles, it’s easy to add a belt to balance out the volume. If you’re wearing a thigh length version like this look, a shorter skirt or fitted trousers will give you a more slimmer look overall. Another great way to wear a cape is going for a monochromatic look or even a cape suit.
After some fun in the sun, my Autumn/Winter style is now in full force, albeit in darker tones. I had to wrap up warm for the chill but still wanted to look sophisticated rather than stuffed, so I styled this navy cape for Sunday brunch. Underneath the cape, for a chic monochrome style look, I wore a cute lace top dress that also looks great in the sunshine as a black birthday outfit idea. I then layered on two pairs of black tights for warmth. Then instead of a scarf, I added a little more luxe to my navy cape with a faux fur scarf.
For a little edginess, I layered a cropped leather jacket under the cape and wore these versatile black mesh ankle boots. These boots would also look great styled with jeans and wearing an oversized coat. If you’d like more cape outfit style inspiration, this take on wearing a tweed cape will have you flying.
