The style myth that you can’t wear blue, especially navy, and black together is exactly that, a myth. In fact the two colours together make such a chic dark colour palette. It is also one of the easiest looks to put on and pull off. Firstly shown in how to wear a cape, the sophistication of wearing black and blue together, this outfit shows a more daring combination of the look.
Although this outfit initially changed so many times that I’m surprised I managed to get out the door, the one thing I was sure of was the colour palette. The vintage blue shirt that I customised with the stitching and pocket detail worked great to add some tailoring to the more bold black leather trousers. I first wore a leather skirt with a feathered hem which had a more dressy feel but I changed to the trousers for a more daring look.
The footwear was originally black round toe courts and ended as these silver Ankle boots. Although with the blue croc print belt, these made for some striking detail. I then added more silver hints with the trendy neck cuff and earrings. To finish off the black and blue theme, I wore this elegant navy blue cape, layered with a black faux-fur scarf.
Whether it’s navy, cobalt or bright, the colour blue works brilliantly worn with black. As with everything in fashion, its all a matter of styling and confidence.
