Just like wearing white, how to wear cream to a wedding can be a sensitive topic. Weddings are a beautiful thing but looking like you’re trying to upstage the bride is never a good look. Yesterday I had the pleasure of attending my close friends beautiful wedding. For the affair, I decided to wear cream and lace. Now wearing these two components to someone’s wedding is fine, as long as you don’t look like a bride yourself. Things like wearing trousers, a jumpsuit or a shorter length dress can make the difference between the perfect wedding look and a fashion faux pas.
I wore a floral green blazer on a cream lace dress that although had a full skirt, was short enough to not imitate a wedding dress. Under the dress I wore a cream vintage lace pencil style skirt to not only add personality but to add length, volume and a peplum style look to the outfit. I then matched these with versatile accessories like the cream platform sandals and a gold long box clutch. The gold and pearl drop earrings were the last little accessory that made a big difference and tied the look together from head to toe. For another variation of this look, see the cream lace wedding guest outfit.
