STYLING A COLOUR BLOCK DRESS

STYLING A COLOUR BLOCK DRESS

Colour blocking can be a daunting new trend to conquer, so to ease into it, you’d be smart to start with a colour block dress than styling separates. A dress takes the hassle out of colour blocking perfectly because it has styled the look for you. All you then have to worry about is picking the right fit and accessories complimentary to the block colours. Just like this outfit, you can start off with neutral colours if you don’t want to be too adventurous. Colour block styling the right way requires at least two colours & if it’s not a dress, at least two separates. The trend is all about styling multiple colours or even tones together like how to wear shades of blue together. It is about mixing solid colours to make a striking statement.

I wore this green colour block dress outfit to some London fashion week shows like the Sonata lingerie A/W 2013 show. And with St. Patricks Day celebrations winding down, it was a great excuse to wear green. Colour blocking doesn’t always have to be done with bright colours as I’ve chosen here to style black and army/moss green coloured pieces.

The net hat works to compliment the green tones of the dress, while the coat compliments the black. There is something about netted head pieces that just infuse elegance to any outfit and I’m certainly a big fan of these accessories.
