Last night I attended Afrotherapy’s wonderful 10 year ‘hair’ anniversary party. Held at their North London Salon, it was a lovely celebration of empowerment and passion. Started by owner Joseph and Harriet Cudjoe, Afrotherapy is a growing leader in quality Afro hairdressing and now have a decade of success under their belt. So to commemorate that achievement, they hosted a spectacular event. Filled with musical performances, colour and cut styling demonstrations, a fashion show, delicate buffet and raffle.
Fashion Designer Jose Hendo treated guests to a mini fashion show displaying her authentic and ingenious way of ‘up-cycling’ clothing. Amongst her creations was a bridal inspired gown created with mens ties!
The £1 ticket raffle was a success because it raised money for the Tohoku Japan Earthquake Relief Fund. A fund also supported by Saxaphonist Yolanda Brown and Great Ormond Street Hospital. Prizes from the raffle included GHD Hair straighteners, a £150 Afrotherapy makeover and luxury hair and beauty products. Guests could also win a pair of tickets to see Yolanda Brown live at Chelsea’s ‘Under the bridge’.
Overall it was a lovely night shared with good people. Having worked with Afrotherapy on projects such as the Ruffle and Bramble Hair Campaign and the Take Me Away Editorial, their attention to detail was no surprise. The anniversary party was fantastic and I wish Afrotherapy continued success.
